Anybody actually got a custom weapon reload or fire animation to work in FPS view? (I'm not concerned with 3rd person view right now) If so please list here the steps you performed to get it to work.
For example, Ideally I'd just like to be able to drag my animation clip into the 'pistol' transform (bl_weaponAnin component->ReloadName ) and have it play my custom animation
fps view weapon animations

-The animation should be from the hand / weapon model, you can't use a animation of a weapon model in another due these are legacy animation.
- Your animations should be listed in the "Animation" component too.
- Your Animations should be set as 'Legacy Mode' in the model rig.

What exactly do you mean by the hand/weapon model? What transforms exactly?
Also what Animation component, the one on the 'rifle'/'pistol' transform or the Animations transform (which only has an animator component not an animation component)
